DRUMMER FOR HIRE
Freelance drummer based in Michigan, USA
Perhaps I should let the comments of my peers tell the story. Over the years, I have been described as ‘rock solid’ with great timekeeping and feel. I like to play what is right for the song and don’t like to overplay or be too ‘flashy’, just for the sake of it.
Versatility is one of my strengths and I can play most styles. I own both acoustic and electronic drum kits and I’m at home behind either one, or even a Cajon!
My style could probably best be summarised as tasteful, steady and solid.
I’m looking for work, ideally in a covers band that plays a wide range of material, within the pop/rock genre.
My past musical influences include The Beatles, Toto, Steely Dan etc.
Drumming-wise, I have been heavily influenced by the best session drummers, such as Jeff Porcaro, Steve Gadd and John ‘JR’ Robinson. Their styles and feel, have definitely moulded the way I approach the drum kit.
Currently I am listening to a wide variety of music, ranging from the classic hits, right through to artists such as Snarky Puppy, Dirty Loops, Moonchild and others…
Some of the bands and artists, I have had the pleasure to work with are:
• Graham Brazier (Hello Sailor)
• Annie Crummer (When the Cat’s Away)
• The ANZACs
• Peter Urlich (Th’ Dudes)
• Brett Sawyer (Shot In The Dark)
• Bamboo
I seemed to naturally take to drumming from a very early age. According to my Mum, when I was about 2 years old, I would dance to The Byrds song “Tambourine Man”. I graduated to tapping away on the armrest of the couch in time with songs on the stereo, as I got a little older.
Eventually in my early teens, I got my first drum kit and from there, I was well on my way to being a drummer! Fast forward to when I was 18 and I joined my first real band. We played at a local school concert and we felt like rock stars!
